About us
Doing Invercargill's hair since 1996
Leanne Cameron opened the doors to A Streak A Head on 29 January 1996, and the salon turned 30 this year. Today it's three stylists in the Gladstone Shopping Centre at 448B Dee Street: Leanne, her daughter Katie, and Darlene, who has been with the salon for more than 25 years.
We love doing every kind of hair: global colour, blonde work, cuts for the whole family, perms, treatments and Argila smoothing. When you're done, you can take home De Lorenzo, Pastel Collective, Clever Curl and more from our shelves.

How do I book an appointment?
Book online any time through our Kitomba booking page, where you can pick your stylist, service and time. You can also call the salon on 03 218 2787 during opening hours.
When are you open?
Tuesday to Thursday 9am to 8pm, Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm. We're closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Do you cut kids' and men's hair?
Yes. Our booking page has children's cuts for ages 0 to 10 and 11 to 16, plus men's cuts and clipper cuts.
What is Argila smoothing?
Argila is a non permanent hair relaxer that leaves hair smoother and easier to manage. Mention it when you book or give us a call, and we'll talk you through whether it suits your hair.
Can I refill my product bottles?
Yes, for Clever Curl. Bring your empty Clever Curl bottle back to the salon and get 15% off the refill. We keep refill containers of Clever Curl cleanser, rich conditioner and curl cream.
Do you sell gift vouchers?
Yes. You can buy a gift voucher online through our Kitomba booking page, or ask about one next time you're in.
